heard this whopper of a lie at one of your weekly trainings: "Everyone
is your prospect!" Or maybe it sounded something like this: "Everyone
wants this, they just don't know it yet!"

The reality is, lies like this are being taught across the network
marketing industry. Lies like this have Melaleuca distributors talking to
anyone they can about their "gem of a business." It's amazing that
Melaleuca, Inc. actually believes that this is an effective way of bringing
in more distributors into their sales force!

People wonder why network marketing has such a negative reputation. I
can't imagine why. Maybe it's because these pre-historic methods of
recruiting have placed Melaleuca the wellness company on the same level as
that one bum outside your gas station peddling "real gold chains." It's
hard to take him seriously when he's offering you a "piece of jewelry"
for only twenty bucks. The same can be said for Melaleuca business
owners who try to recruit anything that moves and breathes into their
down-lines.

Let's settle this once and for all! Everyone isn't your prospect! You
might find that idea hard to believe based on what you've learned but
its true! Just as you need certain skills to qualify for working a job,
you'll also need certain skills to run your own business and become an
entrepreneur. On top of that, some people just plain aren't
interested in being an entrepreneur. They like their job and they are content
right where they are at.

Whatever the reason might be, you shouldn't spend your time and energy
trying to convince anyone to become involved with your business.
Because no one is worth your time until they've shown an interest in what
you're offering

You might already have the perfect Melaleuca lead already in your
midst. You know this person will skyrocket your business towards financial
freedom. You know this person has what it takes to build this business
and best of all you know that they have the time to build this
business. While you can approach them, just keep in mind that you want to
work with people who want to be worked with!

Your credibility is essentially on the line when you approach "anyone"
about joining your business. It basically screams that you're
unprofessional and definitely not successful enough to use credible methods of
marketing. Think of it this way. How many Fortune 500 companies have
their top CEO recruiting additional business and employees from the
street? It's just unprofessional. With that in mind, we go back to the
issue about the negative perception about the network marketing industry
and we can really begin to see why we aren't taken more seriously.

It really boils down to this. You can't chase down prospects, and give
them a feverish sales pitch about your latest business opportunity. It
just won't work, because this method screams desperation! Your
prospects will view you as an unprofessional nuisance. In network marketing
this isn't a good image to have. Who finds who first is very important.
When your prospect finds you and seeks your professional opinion, you're
viewed as the expert. Positioning yourself this way is definitely one
of the keys to successful recruiting.

It just doesn't make any sense to headhunt and force-feed prospects who
aren't the least bit interested in what you have to offer. (Crazy as
that may sound) There are lots of people in the world that want to start
their own business, and the people you should be spending your time
