What is Search Engine Optimization?

Search Engine Optimization or SEO is the process of increasing quality traffic to a website from Search Engines similar to Google.com, Yahoo.com, and Live.com. SEO is the end result of higher rankings for a keyword and its traffic. Google recently has added Images, Video, and Local Search.

Search Engines normally have algorithms that produce results in a particular layout. SEO looks at optimization of a websites coding, links, content, and on page optimization. Spiders are known as the program that runs through the algorithms set by Search Engines. You should be careful with SEO, you can be black listed with Black Hat Methods such as building links on link farms, keyword stuffing, and spamdexing. This can harm your website and result in being Black Listed.

The term Search Engine Optimization was created by industry consultants who carry out optimization on projects for clients they have created relationships for. Because effective SEO Requires HTML source code of a site, SEO is normally incorporated into a sites design. This is called search engine friendly which means the front end (design, menus) and backend (Content Management System) are easily optimized.

Webmasters and Search Engines

Search Engines recognized that webmasters were making efforts to rank well in the search engines starting in 1997, and even manipulating the pages rankings in search results. Thats when search engines like InfoSeek and Yahoo.com started changing algorithms to prevent webmasters from manipulating rankings.

Due to the high marketing value of targeted search results, there is potential for an adversarial relationship between search engines and SEOs. In 2005, an annual conference, AIRWeb, Adversarial Information Retrieval on the Web, was created to discuss and minimize the damaging effects of aggressive web content providers.

Some SEO companies try aggressive techniques that can get there clients black listed. In 2005 Traffic Power a company that was known for those techniques was banned from the search engines.

SEO is an every changing platform and is recommended for long term results. In short term - depending on the cost of conversion, many experts would recommend Search Engine Marketing(SEM). SEM is used when you pay for results and get a sponsored listing on certain keywords.

SEM continues to be one of the most important factors for establishing a successful online business. Unless your site is a household name like Ebay or Amazon, your site is virtually invisible to most web users. Search Engine Marketing is the logical choice for online marketing.

In closing both SEM and SEO can be used to create great results to any website if analysis and correct steps are taken to ensure a powerful campaign.

Paid Surveys - Paid Survey Applications

Now when it comes to paid surveys, there is nothing more important than the application. So what is involved in this step of the process towards increasing profits for yourself?

Before you are given the opportunity to take part in a paid survey, you must first make an application. This application usually involves filling out details about yourself in relevance to the particular type of paid survey or focus group on offer.

Doing It The Right Way

There are many things you will need to know about making an application for a paid survey. One of the most important things you must do is make sure you fill out absolutely everything about yourself. Your name, age, where you live, where you come from, what you do and what you want to do.

Now generally most people will only tell the companies offering surveys a few things that usually won't stand out above the rest. Getting a position in a survey all comes down to one thing - "are you different from everyone else" Does your application stand out above the rest and if it doesn't, the chances of you obtaining a position is almost slim to none.

Think Of The Application As Going For A Job

One of the things I like to do when filling out applications is to think of it like a job interview. Now the interviewer is only going to hire someone who shows something a little different from the norm.

It's the same when applying for a paid survey. Tell them something about yourself that you're sure no one else has in common. That will get their attention and intern will probably put you ahead of a lot of people.

If you're having trouble thinking about something that is unique to you then ask yourself these questions -

1. What are you good at?
2. What have other people told you, you are good at?
3. Is this thing exciting or intriguing?

It could be anything; a hobby that you're sure not many people will be involved in, an exciting story that no one else will be able to tell, anything at all! Just making sure you keep one thing in mind - "is it unique?"

Coming up with something that is unique to you and that seems relatively eye-catching will give your application an added boost so that when it comes time for the company in question to read through the applications, yours will seem somewhat different and will immediately be remembered by the reader.

The Challenge of Working at Home

Being a work at home mom is a dream for many a busy mother. The idea is that you earn a living while keeping your home perfect and your kids happy.

Ah, if only the reality were so simple. We'd all get a lot more sleep.

Much depends on the ages of the kids in question. Older kids can quickly learn that a closed office door means leave Mom alone unless the house or a sibling is on fire. Younger kids are more likely to start pounding on the door the instant you've achieved that perfect flow of work.

Generally after you've been struggling to get things going for the day.

Many the work at home mom has learned that it's really not that easy to work with kids in the house. She may feel guilty as she realizes that at least some sort of childcare is necessary sometimes so that work can be accomplished. This is accompanied by feelings of guilt and relief. You can get work done at last! But that's not why you wanted to work at home!

But such is the reality.

Then there are the people who want you to get a real job. You know, outside the home. Not only do they think you aren't doing anything all day, they want you to help them out with their problems. Watch their kids, that kind of thing.

And of course stop and chat with them when you'd rather be working.

For many, there's also the uncertainty of working at home. Will you get enough clients? Make enough sales? Pound your head on the keyboard enough?

Hopefully not that last. But there are days....

I'd love to know what part of taking care of the house work at home moms generally give up first. There is so often the assumption that a work at home mom will do everything possible to take perfect care of the home too. After all, she's at home. Even a supportive spouse can make this mistake, and leave the dishes for the work at home mom who had been hoping to get some work done after the kids were in bed.

Probably not, unless you ask for it. Repeatedly some nights.

Thank goodness the craziness and lack of understanding of what you really do generally comes out all worth it. You're there when you really want to be there. Exhausted, trying to do three things at once, but there. You know you'd be nuts to trade it for anything else.
