The Secret To Making Millions With Info Products

I know the title sounds like hype. Stick with me,
and in a few seconds, you'll be nodding your head -
and on your way to a real fortune.
As an avid student of direct marketing, and creating
info products, I have a HUGE marketing library. One
of the things sifting through books (and audio recordings)
in this library has proven to me is that very few marketing
ideas are new. Practically all of the recent "secrets"
revealed in Internet marketing aren't new. Many of them
came from the pre-Internet, direct marketing world.

One of the audiotape sets I sometimes listen to is
a 12-tape set called "The Ultimate Direct Marketing
Dream Team." It features Ted Nicholas, Wade Cook,
Robert Allen, Mark Victor Hansen, Brad Antin, Russ
von Hoelscher, Dan Kennedy, and Barney Zick. These
tapes were produced during a seminar put on for
information product marketers in the early 1990's.
This seminar was put on when the Internet was in its
infancy, so the emphasis was on off-line direct
marketing of info products.
The ONE big lesson offered by many of the speakers was
that you needed to create "bigger ticket items." Another
thing emphasized by practically all of the speakers was,
"offer your product in as many forms as practical since
people prefer to consume information in different formats."
A third point emphasized was "the thud factor." That is,
when a customer gets his order, the box needs to be so
BIG that it makes a thud when it hits his desk.
As an information marketer "raised" on the Internet -
and what its "gurus" taught, I had to smile when
listening to these tapes. Every major new idea that
I'd been taught in the past 9 years were on this
11-year-old tapeset! Everything from "the funnel
system" to "big ticket items." None of the ideas were
new! They were all tried and true ideas passed from
generation to generation of information marketers :-)
So where's the secret to making millions in all of this?
Every marketer who spoke, and was making millions, was
selling "BIGGER TICKET ITEMS." Every Internet marketer
that I personally know who makes high-six-figures to
millions... sells big-ticket items.
When you think about it, it's just common sense. It
takes just 1004 copies of a product selling at $997
to put you over the million dollar mark. How many $47
ebooks does it take? If you said, 21,277, then you're
faster with the math than I am. That's a lot of ebooks,
and I submit that it's practically impossible for most
Internet marketers to move that many copies in a
year.
Even if the ebook marketer above had 10 different
titles... he'd still have to sell over 2000 copies of
each. It would be a lot more work, and a lot less fun,
than creating just one product and then selling only
1004 copies.
The big stumbling block for most aspiring Internet
marketers of course is the "how to" knowledge. You KNOW
in your heart that you'd be better off with at least
one big-ticket item in your product line, but it seems
like such a monumental task.
The fact is, creating a big ticket item can be a
monumental task. You have to break it down into
little, bit-sized steps. You have to follow the blueprint
of someone who has done it many times before. That's
the only way I know of for the average... or even
above-average info product creator to take such a major
project through to completion.
Another stumbling block for many info marketers is that
they're afraid their customers won't buy bigger ticket
items. Instead of creating bigger ticket items, they move
in the opposite direction and sell $20 ebooks! So
instead of making things easier, they now need to sell
more than 43,000 copies to make the same money. They also
now have 43 times as many customer service issues as
they'd have with the big ticket item!

most people who read, understand and agree with this, will
do absolutely nothing with it. Every successful info product
creator consciously stops procrastinating and making excuses
when they decided to become successful. That's the biggest
way that I've identified that they're different ;-)
